Eddie Chacon + John Carroll Kirby: KCRW Live from HQ
The best things come in pairs: rock and roll, chocolate and peanut butter, and, of course, two cornerstone artists within LA institution Stones Throw Records — multi-instrumentalist composer-producer and collaborator-to-the-stars John Carroll Kirby, and “low-key R&B legend" (and one half of erstwhile ‘90s duo Charles & Eddie) Eddie Chacon. Just ahead of Chacon’s sophomore solo album Sundown (due Mar. 31 via Stones Throw), catch these stalwarts of LA’s creative class doing their thing live and direct from KCRW HQ’s Annenberg Performance Studio.
Let’s get elevated. Think: lush meadows under perfect skies; the soft rasp of Chacon’s vocals atop Kirby’s jazzy, New Age production; the dynamic, poignant interpretation of Chacon’s R&B roots. Plus, dig the potent conversation with Morning Becomes Eclectic co-host Anthony Valadez about the influence of LA on the duo’s art, their diverse musical inspirations, and the importance of “never letting anyone talk you out of who you are.” Click in to transcend.
